Communications and Outreach Manager
Rhode Island Students of the Future (RISF) is a nonprofit organization that helps children solve real-world problems using science, technology, engineering, art, math and robotics. We manage the popular FIRST LEGO League youth robotics program for ages 4-14 in Rhode Island and produce other outreach programs, workshops and events.
Reports to: Board of Directors
Location: Rhode Island or nearby CT or MA
Context: Works to promote Rhode Island Students of the Future, FIRST, and FIRST LEGO League throughout the state in an attempt to increase the number of teams, coaches and mentors that participate in the FIRST LEGO League program. Responsible for managing all aspects of RISF’s internal and external communications.
Scope: The Communications and Outreach Manager is the primary recruiter of new coaches and teams for our FIRST LEGO League program. They will develop, implement, and manage communication and recruitment strategies for internal and external audiences, including but not limited to coaches, mentors, volunteers, supporters, and media. They will serve as a liaison for all coaches, welcoming and onboarding them to the FIRST LEGO League in order to help set them up for success.
Job Type: This is a contract position, averaging 20-hours per week for one year, with renewal subject to continued grant funding. This position requires the ability to work a flexible schedule that includes some nights and weekends. The tournaments and events we manage are held at schools, universities, and community gathering spaces in Rhode Island; administrative work will be done remotely. The wage will be in the $19-$30/hr range.
This is a contract position and does not include benefits.
